Tulsa, Okla.-based WellOK is working on various initiatives to bring quality healthcare at a reduced cost to residents, according to Tulsa World.
Here are five highlights:
1. WellOK is a nonprofit organization comprised of 18 members including members from QuikTrip, City of Tulsa, Bank of Oklahoma and the George Kaiser Family Foundation.
2. The group is working to bring the Leapfrog Hospital Survey to Tulsa, which surveys hospitals for quality and safety. The survey's results are available to the public.
3. The business coalition is working on diabetes prevention and is working with Tulsa-based QuikTrip. QuikTrip gives at-risk employees a diabetes prevention course during their lunch hour at no cost to the employee.
4. WellOK has worked with Consumer Reports on designing education tools to facilitate meaningful conversations between patients and their doctors.
5. "High-value healthcare is really good for business growth," said Stanley Schwartz, president and CEO, WellOK. "When people are deciding where to locate a business, the cost and value of healthcare in a community becomes an important decision."
