Press Ganey launches ASC consumer assessment early adopter's program — 5 key notes

Press Ganey launched the Outpatient and Ambulatory Surgery Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Early Adopter Program, which expands the company's CAHPS solutions.

Here are five things to know:

1. The new program provides outpatient and ambulatory surgery centers with OAS CAHPS measurement experience.

2. Centers can also identify improvement opportunities and implement patient experience initiatives to prepare for future requirements.

3. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services plans to begin voluntary monthly data collection with OAS CAHPS survey tool in 2016. The tool includes 27 questions to assess experienced measures for hospital-based outpatient surgery departments or freestanding ASCs.

4. The Press Ganey survey includes proprietary questions for providers to better understand the patient's perception of their care experience in addition to OAS CAHPS questions.

5. Press Ganey partners with more than 22,000 healthcare organizations to improve performance and is the largest CAHPS administrator in the country.

"Our experience shows that organizations that participate in patient experience measurement programs before they are required tend to outperform those that didn't, and also sustain that advantage over time," said Patrick T. Ryan, CEO of Press Ganey.
