The Collaborative for Healing and Renewal in Medicine offered practices a series of steps to address physician burnout.
Here's what you should know.
1. The collective developed a series of principles for practices to create plans to beat burnout. They were published in JAMA.
2. The principles are:
- Effective patient care promotes and requires physician well-being
- Physician well-being is related with the well-being of all members of the health care team
- Physician well-being is a quality marker
- Physician well-being is a shared responsibility
3. The collaborative also developed a framework practices can use to address physician well-being from medical training to end of career. It's related to organization commitments, interpersonal and individual commitments and societal commitments.
