IPRO, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for New York state, offers a free venous thromboembolism prophylaxis pocket card to help providers determine the appropriate prophylactic option for different surgeries.
The pocket card material was prepared by Stratis Health and the Oklahoma Foundation for Medical Quality, the Quality Improvement Organization Support Center for Patient Safety, and adapted by IPRO under contract with CMS. The pocket card lists prophylactic options for 10 different surgeries, including intracranial neurosurgery, general surgery and elective total hip replacement.
