The Health Research and Educational Trust, an affiliate of the American Hospital Association, offers a free venous thromboembolism prevention guide.
The guide was developed by Cynosure Health in December 2012 for the HRET Hospital Engagement Network, which is part of CMS' Partnership for Patients initiative. The guide includes drivers of reduced VTE incidence, such as effective risk assessment, and associated specific changes, such as adopting a simplified VTE risk assessment screening tool. The document also includes an example of simplified evidence-based recommendations for different VTE risk levels.
