The Premier healthcare alliance offers a free chemical and bioterrorism preparedness checklist from the American Hospital Association to help hospitals assess their preparedness for chemical and biological incidents.
AHA developed the checklist based on a survey by David Mangelsdorf, PhD, and two of his students, Gina Savini and Dean Doering, at the U.S. Army-Baylor Graduate Program in Healthcare Administration in Waco, Texas.
The checklist helps hospitals assess preparedness for chemical and biological incidents in the areas of communications and public affairs; access to care; business continuity plan; capacity; pharmaceuticals and equipment; medical treatment procedures; training and personnel; facility management/security; psychiatric services and crisis counseling; and diagnostic capabilities.
Download the AHA chemical and bioterrorism preparedness checklist (doc) for use in your own facility.
