Dayton, Ohio-based Surgery Center at Corporate Way was named the 2019 Rookie Business of the Year by Dayton Business Journal.
Four highlights:
1. Amol Soin, MD, established Surgery Center at Corporate Way in 2016. There, he performs minimally invasive procedures such as nerve blocks and spine decompression for about one-tenth the price at most hospitals.
"Hospitals have these multimillion-dollar facilities, and they have a lot of expenses," he told Dayton Business Journal. "I knew that there was opportunity to take advantage of that and do it cheaper."
2. Dr. Soin's surgery center has grown significantly in its three years of operation. The facility expected to surpass its 2019 goal of completing 5,000 surgical cases by November.
3. To sustain growth in 2020, Dr. Soin hired a digital media consultant and plans on launching a robust digital media campaign to boost referral traffic. Expansion into other cities could be on the horizon if growth remains as strong as it's been in the past few years, Dr. Soin said.
4. Surgery Center at Corporate Way has a 36-person staff that includes anesthesia providers, physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and support staff. Dayton Business Journal named the center a "Best Places to Work" honoree this past March.
