New York's state health officials conducted an online session with physicians and health professionals in the state to discuss the Zika virus, according to a Times Union report.
Here are three points:
1. The session aimed to educate physicians about the disease and help prevent misinformation.
2. Only nine people in New York have contracted the virus that the World Health Organization declared to be an international public health emergency. However, they all contracted the virus after traveling to regions where the disease has broken out, including places in Latin America, the Caribbean and the Pacific Islands.
3. According to N.Y. state health officials, nobody has contracted the disease in the United States, and it is unlikely that anyone would contract it during winter, as it is a mosquito-borne illness.
