NuHealth, the parent company of Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, N.Y., has implemented a pilot project based on the Department of Defense and AHRQ's TeamSTEPPS program, according to a health system news release.
TeamSTEPPS is a team performance optimization framework designed to enhance patient safety. It has a three-phased process aimed at creating and sustaining a culture of safety: a pre-training assessment for site readiness; orientation for onsite trainers and healthcare staff; and implementation and sustainment.
NuHealth's pilot program has been launched on the telemetry cardiac services floor at Nassau University Medical Center. Health system leaders hope to expand the pilot program throughout the hospital in the future.
