New York's North Shore-LIJ, Montefiore Medical Center Form Strategic Alliance

Manhasset, N.Y.-based North Shore-LIJ Health System and Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, N.Y., have formed a strategic alliance to share best practices related to quality, clinical services and operational efficiencies, according to a North Shore-LIJ release.
Both providers will remain independent from one another through the alliance, according to the release, but they will share innovative information technology programs, create best practices in medical education and launch public health strategies to improve population health.

"Given the challenges facing the healthcare industry during this era of shrinking government reimbursements, this unique partnership enables us to share best practices and work cooperatively to strengthen quality and patient safety, improve cost efficiency, and develop community outreach programs focused on chronic illness and public health problems like obesity," Michael J. Dowling, president and CEO of the 15-hospital North Shore-LIJ Health System, said in the release.
