This week is National Patient Safety Awareness Week, and the theme is "Are You In? (involved, informed, invested) Commit to Safe Health Care," according to an American Medical Association report.
National Patient Safety Foundation, created by AMA in 1996, sponsors NPSAW each year to promote patient safety in healthcare. The week also honors patient safety advocate John Eisenberg, MD, MBA.
AMA provides several patient safety resources for physicians, including tools to improve communication, dress code standards to reduce infection and a medication safety checklist.
