Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pa., has settled a negligence lawsuit involving a newborn's death for $1.5 million, according to a Morning Call report.
Parents of a now-deceased newborn filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the hospital in 2009, claiming clinicians failed to detect "serious trauma" after the physician applied a vacuum suction cup to the baby's head during birth in 2008. The suction cup allegedly caused brain bleeding, and the newborn died three days later.
