IntelligentM has signed contracts with several hospitals for its Smartband Systems, hand hygiene tags worn by healthcare workers that communicate via Bluetooth with similarly equipped soap and sanitizer dispensers as well as other equipment.
The tag, which communicates with hand sanitation devices as to whether a provider has used them, conveys real-time compliance data to a central system, reminding the provider to comply by vibrating three times in event of a noncompliant event.
This real-time data should allow healthcare systems to track hand hygiene compliance alongside common HAIs such as central line-associated bloodstream infections and catheter-associated urinary tract infections, a new opportunity, according to a news release.
