The International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management's Orthopedic Council has released a position paper and sample policy and procedure template regarding loaner instrumentation.
The position paper on the management of loaner instrumentation calls for a well-developed loan program and written policy that maintains patient safety. IAHCSMM recommends developing a program and policy with input from key stakeholders, such as administrators, infection prevention leaders, risk management and materials management leaders and surgeons.
