Orthopedic trauma surgeon Michael O'Boyle, MD, of Richmond, Va.,-based Bon Secours Medical Group, received the Lewis W. Blackman Patient Safety Champion Award in the Caregiver category at the South Carolina Transforming Health Symposium, reports Greenville Business Magazine.
With Dr. O'Boyle's leadership, Bon Secours St. Francis developed the Osteoporotic Fracture Center program in 2007, which is dedicated solely to older patients with hip or femur fractures, reports Greenville Business Magazine.
Dr. O'Boyle received his medical degree from University of Texas – Southwestern Medical Center and completed his residency at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. Dr. O'Boyle also completed two fellowships; one in orthopedic trauma at Florida Orthopaedic Institute and one in foot and ankle surgery at Baylor College of Medicine.
