U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) praised statewide patient safety efforts at a recent hearing on behalf of the Senate Special Committee on Aging in Hartford, according to a Boston Globe report.
Nearly 100,000 lives are lost each year to healthcare-associated infections, adding to the rising cost of medical errors. The Connecticut Hospital Association hosted a two-day forum on patient safety, and most of the state's 30 hospitals have agreed to work together to tackle adverse events.
"Connecticut really is at the forefront. The more we can add to this movement, the better," Sen. Blumenthal said.
