Point Reyes Station, Calif.-based nonprofit Coastal Health Alliance met with the community to discuss vaccination changes presented in Senate Bill 277, according to Point Reyes Light.
Here are five takeaways:
1. The Senate bill eliminated personal belief exemptions for school-mandated vaccinations for preschoolers, kindergarteners and seventh graders.
2. Coastal Health Alliance physicians reported they may write medical exemptions for specific cases.
3. The nonprofit also offered the "conditional entry" plan. This would allow children without vaccinations to attend school if they had a detailed physician plan about receiving the immunizations in the future.
4. The physicians encouraged conversations about vaccination requirements. While Coastal Health Alliance is open to finding compromises with parents, they will abide by the law and encourage vaccinations.
5. The Senate Bill 277 was passed in July 2015.
