The Baltimore County Health Department has shut down Monarch Medspa in Timonium, Md., after a healthcare-associated infection led to the death of a patient, according to a CBS Local report.
The 59-year-old patient went to the surgery center for liposuction and died of an infection six days later.
"You need to stop everything and try to figure out what the origins of it is and then clean that up," said Gregory Branch, MD, of Baltimore County Health Department.
The county health department said Monarch Medspa has cooperated in the investigation.
