The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses has released a new educational model to help assess the knowledge of preventing retained surgical items, according to a news release.
A grant from Medline Industries and ClearCount Medical Solutions to the AORN Foundation helped fund the development of the Retained Surgical Items Confidence-Based Learning Module. The companies will also provide free access to the module for the first 500 registrants, starting March 28 at 9:00 a.m. (Central).
The assessment tool is targeted to people working in facilities providing surgery and other invasive procedures and is based on AORN's Recommended Practices for Prevention of Retained Surgical Items.
