4 Safe Injection Best Practices

The One & Only Campaign, led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Safe Injection Practices Coalition, created an infographic with four best practices healthcare providers should follow to ensure safe injections.

The infographic is one of the new resources on safe injection best practices the CDC and SIPC released.

Here are the four practices:

1.    Needles and syringes should not be used for more than one patient or reused to draw up additional medication.
2.    Do not administer medications from a single-dose vial or IV bag to multiple patients.
3.    Limit the use of multi-dose vials, and dedicate them to a single patient whenever possible.
4.    Speak up if you see a colleague not following safe injection practices.
