10 Oswego Hospital surgery center nurses earn CNOR certification — 3 highlights

Ten registered nurses who provide care in Oswego (N.Y.) Hospital's surgery center earned CNOR certification, Oswego County Today reports.

Here are three highlights:

1. The CNOR credentialing program is an accredited program for perioperative RNs.

2. To be eligible for CNOR certification, RNs must be working in perioperative nursing with at least two years and 2,400 hours of experience. They must also complete an examination covering nine subject areas.

3. Surgical Services Director Shannon Campbell, BSN, RN, said the certification signifies the staff provides a higher level of care.

"For our department, this is actually groundbreaking," she said. "Few, if any surgical departments, regardless of their size, have a staff where a majority of the registered nurses have earned this certification."
