Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente has made several big moves in September so far, including closing a facility and building a new hospital.
Here are six recent moves by the Oakland, Calif.-based health system, as reported by Becker's since Sept. 5:
1. Kaiser received approval from the San Jose (Calif.) planning commission to move forward with plans to demolish its existing San Jose Medical Center and build a new hospital.
2. Kaiser announced plans to close its last skilled nursing facility in the country, the Kaiser Permanente Post Acute Care Center in San Leandro, Calif.
3. Kaiser Permanente and Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health expanded their partnership through a long-term agreement in Colorado.
4. Black Directors Health Equity Agenda, a Chicago-based coalition of Black board directors, seeks to address health disparities in public hospitals and community health centers with a $1.5 million grant from Kaiser.
5. Kaiser named Christopher Fontes as Northern California executive director of revenue cycle.
6. Kaiser Permanente Ventures participated in a $65 million financing round for a virtual care startup focused on home-based patients.
