Northeast Missouri Surgery Center and Hannibal Anesthesia Associates unanimously elected Bhagirath Katbamna, MD, as the new board president, according to a Hannibal Courier-Post report.
Here are five key notes:
1. Dr. Katbamna is board-certified in internal medicine and a diplomate in gastroenterology. He has practiced in Hannibal since 1997 and been on the board since 2009.
2. Michael Bukstein, MD, was the previous board president, serving in that capacity for 16 years.
3. Northeast Missouri Ambulatory Surgery Center is a multispecialty outpatient surgical facility. The Hannibal Clinic and B&B Surgical Enterprises jointly own the facility.
4. Services at the surgery center include gastroenterology, gynecology, internal medicine orthopedics, general surgery and urology. More than 70,000 patients have received care at the center since it opened in 2000.
5. Dr. Katbamna earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed his residency at Emory University in Atlanta. His additional training includes a fellowship in gastroenterology at MetroHealth Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University in Michigan.
