The New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners permanently revoked the license of internist and hematologist Jashvant Amin, MD, who had sexual relations with a cognitively impaired patient who bore his child in 1986.
The investigation was opened after the patient's son, who is now an adult, filed a complaint, according to an Aug. 10 news release from the state's attorney general. Further DNA testing results confirmed that he was Dr. Amin's son and the patient became pregnant while she was Dr. Amin's patient.
The investigation found that Orange, N.J.-based Dr. Amin engaged in professional and sexual misconduct and lacked the "good moral character" required to serve as a healthcare professional, according to the release.
