Fountain Valley, Calif.-based MemorialCare has added David Kim, MD, as CEO of MemorialCare Medical Foundation, which encompasses MemorialCare Medical Group, Greater Newport Physicians and more than 200 outpatient care centers.
In his new role, effective Aug. 21, he will lead the system's physician and ambulatory care division, which includes more than 2,000 affiliated medical groups and independent physicians, according to a July 19 press release.
He will oversee joint ventures for ambulatory patient services such as imaging, dialysis, surgery centers, physical therapy and dental services.
He will also serve as chief executive of the MemorialCare Heart & Vascular Institute and the MemorialCare Cancer Institute and as the lead physician executive of the MemorialCare Clinically Integrated Network.
Dr. Kim will take over for Mark Schafer, MD, who is retiring after serving with the system for nearly 10 years.
Dr. Kim first worked with MemorialCare from 2009 to 2015, where he served as a medical director before advancing into leadership roles, including regional medical director.
