Nashville-based HCA Healthcare, one of the largest ASC management organizations in the country, has donated $500,000 to the American Red Cross' Annual Disaster Giving Program.
This is HCA's fifth year participating in the program, which provides funding for infrastructure, volunteers, technology and resources in the wake of disasters.
The Red Cross responds to 60,000 disasters every year, according to an Aug. 22 news release from HCA.
HCA also works alongside the Red Cross to coordinate supplies, resources and shelter support for patients who are discharged from hospitals in the wake of a disaster.
HCA also has its own incident response team of nearly 200 leaders that provides resources and coordinates responses during times of crisis. Over the last seven years, HCA has provided more than $6 million to the Red Cross.
HCA has also established a fund to help its own workers in the wake of disasters. It provides financial aid and resources to employees facing extended illness, injury, disaster and other special situations. In 2022, the fund provided $12 million in grants to 4,400 HCA employees and family members, according to the release.
