Hackensack Meridian Neuroscience Institute is set to break national and global records with the nearing implementation of Zap-X Gyroscopic Radiosurgery combined with Synaptive brain only silent MRI.
The institute's noninvasive neurosurgery center at Jersey Shore University Medical Center will be the first in the Northeast to offer Zap-X, first in the nation to offer Synaptive's head-only MRI and first in the world to combine both technologies, according to an Aug. 14 press release from Hackensack Meridian Health.
The Zap-X Gyroscopic Radiosurgery platform is a noninvasive tool used to treat brain tumors and other cranial conditions, and it has displayed similar outcomes to open surgery. Synaptive MRI continuously offers real-time imaging feedback, resulting in less time between diagnosis and treatment. It is also the only head MRI that is designed solely to capture images of the brain and nervous system.
Debuting the technology was driven by a donation from the Golden Dome Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by Mary Ellen Harris and Robert Harris, PhD. The technologies are set to debut in September at the Dr. Robert H. and Mary Ellen Harris Zap-X Center for Noninvasive Neurosurgery at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, based in Neptune, N.J., according to the release.
