A man in Miami Beach, Fla., pleaded guilty to his role in a $4.2 million durable medical equipment fraud scheme.
Christopher Vehovec and his conspirators allegedly received kickbacks and bribes in exchange for providing medical equipment companies with completed physician orders for medically unnecessary equipment, the Justice Department said in a Sep. 6 release.
Mr. Vehovec used telemedicine companies to obtain these prescriptions and they were subsequently fraudulently billed, according to the report.
