Eye office worker pleads guilty to stealing $75K+ — 3 quick details

An ophthalmology office employee in New Jersey pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $75,000 from the practice, according to local news station 9.27 WOBM.

Three quick details:

1. Sheryl Ward pleaded guilty May 20 to stealing from her employer over a 17-month period.

2. An employee in the contact lens department, Ms. Ward admitted to creating fraudulent credit card returns for over $75,000 in merchandise and depositing the funds directly into her personal bank account.

3. State prosecutors agreed to recommend a five-year prison sentence in exchange for Ms. Ward's guilty plea. Her sentencing is scheduled for July 26.
