Owings Mills, Md.-based Chesapeake Urology reached its 1,000th milestone for ambulatory percutaneous nephrolithotomy, the highest number of such procedures in the country, according to a May 5 release.
In 2015, Chesapeake's Advanced Kidney Stone Program was reportedly the first in the world to perform this minimally invasive procedure for the removal of complex kidney stone as an outpatient procedure in an ASC, the release said.
The program is led by Julio Davalos, MD, who works mainly from Chesapeake Urology's ASC. To date, Dr. Davalos and the Advanced Kidney Stone Program have performed more than 2,500 PCNL and over 1,500 tubeless PCNL surgeries.
Chesapeake Urology operates 25 medical offices and 18 accredited ASCs.
