AMA political contributions: 21 politicians receiving the most in 2016

The American Medical Association and its affiliates made $1.3 million in political contributions in 2016, with more than $1 million to candidates.

The data was gathered from an FEC report released on June 27 and reported in OpenSecrets.org.

Here are the top recipients of funding from the American Medical Association:

1. Evan Jenkins, House of Representatives (R-W.Va.): $16,000
2. Michael Burgess, House of Representatives (R-Texas): $11,916
3. Matt Gaetz, House of Representatives (R-Fla.): $11,900
4. Tom Price, House of Representatives (R-Ga.): $11,750
5. Patrick Meehan, House of Representatives (R-Pa.): $11,000
6. Diane Black, House of Representatives (R-Tenn.): $11,000
7. Marsha Blackburn, House of Representatives (R-Tenn.): $10,000
8. Richard Burr, Senate (R-N.C.): $10,000
9. Mike Crapo, Senate (R-Idaho): $10,000
10. Joseph Crowley, House of Representatives (D-N.Y.): $10,000
