AAAHC debuts updated allergy guidelines

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care has launched new resources for improving allergy documentation within ASCs and other outpatient organizations.

The new allergy documentation offers healthcare providers tools and guidance for addressing allergies and patient safety, according to a Sept. 16 press release sent to Becker's.

While allergies are the sixth-leading cause of chronic illness in the U.S., improper documentation in the ASC setting remains a common deficiency, according to the release.

New AAAHC resources include the allergy documentation benchmarking study, an on-demand webinar, three print copies of the toolkit and three infographic posters.

Organizations that integrate these resources may establish consistent methods for documenting allergies in patient records that are clear and readily accessible for clinical decision making.
