5 key points about Nashville's booming healthcare industry adding nearly $40B annually to regional economy

An economic impact study released by the Nashville Health Care Council and the Business and Economic Research Center at Middle Tennessee State University revealed great growth in Nashville's healthcare industry over the past five years.

Here are five key points:

1. Nashville's healthcare industry contributed $38.8 billion to the region's economy in 2014. This number is a compilation of direct, indirect and induced business revenues.

2. This is a 32.9 percent increase from the 2010 study.

3. The region's healthcare industry created nearly 250,000 jobs in 2014.

4. Outside of the region, the Nashville healthcare industry employs more than 500,000 people globally.

5. Nashville's industry concentration rank beats out 13 similar metropolitan statistical areas, including Atlanta and Dallas.

"Looking beyond these staggering figures, you simply cannot quantify the entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative mindset that propel Nashville's dynamic healthcare network," said Hayley Hovious, Council president.
