Joshua Siegel, MD, is the sports medicine director at Access Sports Medicine & Orthopedics in Exeter, N.H. He has treated professional, national, and division I collegiate athletes.
Dr. Siegel is a fellow of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and a member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the Sports Medicine Fellowship Society. He is also a founding member of Northeast Surgical Care, an ambulatory surgery center in Newington, N.H. His professional interests revolve around the surgical and medical treatment of all athletic injuries.
Dr. Siegel earned his bachelor's degree from Northwestern University and his medical degree from SUNY Buffalo. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse, N.Y., and a fellowship in sports medicine at American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Ala., under James Andrews, MD, and William Clancy, MD.
In an interview with Becker's ASC Review about the future of surgery center ownership, Dr. Siegel said, "I believe that the consolidation that is taking place in the entire healthcare industry will require institutions to grow through acquisitions or partnerships. This is not exclusive to ASCs and includes hospital mergers and acquisitions. Local hospitals have found that the healthcare industry is not immune to the economic conditions facing the rest of the country. Medicaid reimbursement, regulations and pressure from insurance companies are forcing hospitals and ASCs to look at their models and strategically assess their opportunities."
