Dr. Hajjar is the founder and chairman of Surgem, a company that manages surgery centers, and also founded six surgery centers since 1993, currently serving as Medical Director of SurgiCare Surgical Associations in Fair Lawn. He also founded and remains actively involved with two medical technology companies that aim to improve physician practice operations within the healthcare industry.
Dr. Hajjar graduated with his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, before completing his internship and residency training in general surgery and then urology at NYU-Bellevue Hospital and Manhattan Veterans Administration Hospital. He also completed an MBA from the University of Tennessee to further his knowledge of managing office-based surgery centers.
Dr. Hajjar maintains a special interest in the use of local anesthesia for transurethral resection of the prostate, and has participated in research studies that subsequently appeared in leading publications and presentations. In addition, Dr. Hajjar is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Urological Association and its New York and New Jersey sections.
