Arthur Casey is the senior vice president of business development for Outpatient Healthcare Strategies, a healthcare consulting firm based in Houston.
Mr. Casey has more than 20 years of outpatient healthcare experience as a surgical services operational manager, administrator and executive. His expertise includes ASC facility design and development, physician partnership syndications and physicians relations. He has held positions as an ASC administrator, regional vice president, vice president and senior vice president for HealthSouth; and development office, interim CFO and acting COO of Ambulatory Healthcare Services.
Most recently, Mr. Casey served as a vice president of operations for Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America. He received his certified administrator surgery center board credential in 2002.
Mr. Casey discussed improving ASC profits in an interview with Becker's ASC Review. It is important to create a culture and willingness to cut costs throughout the center, among every physician and staff member, he said. "It should definitely be part of the culture and philosophy of the facility. In every situation in which you could be talking about the goals of the facility — upon hire, during evaluations, in weekly or monthly staff meetings — you should be driving that home," he said. "You should also be highlighting and recognizing your staff members when they are doing what you're asking."
