The non-profit Center for Improving Value in Health Care has launched a website that allows consumers to compare hospital prices, according to a Fierce Health Finance report.
As of now, only total knee and hip replacement, vaginal birth and caesarean section prices are available. The prices posted are based on median prices paid by commercial insurers and Medicaid. The data was obtained from the state's All Payer Claims Database, according to the report.
Ambulatory surgery center prices are expected to be posted by the end of the year.
