The Healthcare Administrative Technology Association as well as other healthcare organizations, including the American Medical Association, have witnessed a smooth transition for ICD-10 claims, with many vendors reporting feeling "cautiously optimistic," according to ICD-10 Monitor.
Here are five things to know:
1. Members from organizations including the AMA and UnitedHealthcare have been in contact via email since Oct. 1 and have weekly meetings to discuss ICD-10 issues and find solutions.
2. The number of calls to HATA's service department has been much lower than the organization predicted with as much as 25 percent less calls than HATA expected.
3. The types of calls also underwent a transition since the coding change. A few weeks ago, the organization’s calls consisted of setup and configuration questions. HATA is now receiving calls concerning coding and claims-related questions.
4. Many of HATA's clients are submitting ICD-10 claims. However, there are still some providers working through their ICD-9 backlogs.
5. AdvancedMD, one of HATA’s large billing services, has seen thousands of payments come through.
