US to pay $266B for employer-sponsored health insurance — 5 insights

In 2016, employer-sponsored healthcare insurance is expected to cost the United States nearly $266 billion, according to ebn.

Here are five insights:

1. For Americans between the ages of 18 and 65, federal subsidies will reach more than $600 billion this year.

2. The Congressional Budget Office projects nearly 27 million people will be uninsured in 2016.

3. In 2016, employment-based insurance will cover 155 million Americans under the age of 65.

4.  The CBO projects employment-based insurance will cover only 152 Americans by 2019.

5. The drop is due, in part, to the Affordable Care Act and employers opting out of providing coverage to employees, the CBO stated. Also, the escalating prices of premiums are surpassing wages, causing many to forgo insurance.
