HHS Secretary Tom Price, MD, and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, contradicted the Office of Management and Budget on President Donald Trump's proposed budget and associated cuts to Medicaid, The Hill reports.
Here's what you should know:
1. OMBD said cuts the American Health Care Act made to federal Medicaid spending were incorporated into Mr. Trump's budget.
2. Dr. Price and Mr. Hatch contradicted the office saying the $600 billion cuts the budget proposed and the $800 billion the AHCA proposed were entirely separate.
3. The OMBD backtracked from its original position and said some of the cuts possibly overlap. Office analysts predicted the government could cut $1.3 trillion from Medicaid.
