Survey: Providers Still Unprepared for ICD-10, Financial Impact

The majority of providers, approximately 76 percent, have completed ICD-10 impact assessments, but as many as 74 percent have not yet or are not planning on doing any external testing, according to a KPMG survey.

The survey was conducted from October to December 2013. Here are other findings from the poll of healthcare organizations.

•    72 percent have allocated a budget for readiness efforts.
•    50 percent have yet to estimate the new code set's impact on cash flow.
•    45 percent believe denials will be most impacted by the transition outside of coding and documentation.
•    28 percent plan on conducting end-to-end ICD-10 compliance testing.
•    3 percent do not plan on conducting end-to-end testing.
