The University of Illinois released a study that ran the most common ICD-9 codes for hematology and oncology physicians and the most-used codes from the University of Illinois Cancer Center through an ICD-10 conversion tool, according to a Government Health IT report.
The results of the study showed information loss and possible reduction in reimbursement. Many have linked ICD-10 with information and reimbursement loses, but the study actually shows full reliance on automatic mapping tools or translators will result in these losses, according to the report.
