Physicians Need to Ditch the Paper, Switch to Automated Records

Despite technological advances, physicians often still document charges with hand-written notes, and it's costing them money, according to Health Leaders Media.

Practices working with paper records at different points along the revenue continuum are losing significant efficiency, which is ultimately impacting the bottom line. With the incorporation of smart phones and Wi-Fi networks, paper as a documentation medium no longer makes sense, according to Health Leaders editorial staff.

Software offerings are relatively low-cost compared to clinical systems, and they can quickly bring cost and time savings. A robust system will pay for itself within a year, experts say.
