MGMA: Only 10% Providers Ready for ICD-10

The Medical Group Management Association conducted a study of ICD-10 readiness and found less than 10 percent of practices have made significant progress to prepare for the transition.

This is only a 4.7 percent increase from June 2013. The most recent survey was taken of 570 medical groups and 21,000 physician practices.

MGMA President Susan Turney, MD, MS, FACP, said the coordination between all parties needed to seamlessly implement ICD-10 is not happening.

MGMA now urges CMS to take steps such as initiating end-to-end testing, publishing ongoing readiness levels of Medicare contractors and state agencies and expanding education efforts.
