Humana raises executive salaries nearly 90% — 5 things you need to know

Louisville, Ky.-based Humana raised the compensation packages of its five chief executives nearly 90 percent from 2015 to 2016.

Here's what you should know.

1. Humana compensated President and CEO Bruce Broussard $10.3 million in 2015. In 2016, Mr. Broussard made $19.7 million, or $9.4 million more.

2. Senior Vice President and CFO Brian Kane made $2.4 million more in 2016; raising his total compensation from $2.3 million to $4.7 million.

3. Executive Vice President and COO James Murray made $3.3 million more; $3.4 million to $6.7 million.

4. Senior Vice President and CCO Jody Bilney and Senior Vice President and chief HR officer Timothy Huval each made $2.1 million more in 2016; $2.2 million to $4.3 million.

5. The increases were due to the vesting of performance-based restricted stock units granted to the executives in 2011.
