Health Systems Management Network created a physician clinical documentation ICD-10 and hospital ICD-10 specialty practices to address the gap between coders and physicians, according to Healthcare Finance News.
Coding mistakes often occur because coders do not understand the clinical context of a procedure and physicians do not realize the level of specificity required to properly code a surgery.
In HSMN's new program, they look at previous cases where this problem occurred and analyze what was billed versus what was performed. HSMN then works with the staff members involved to build a more interactive relationship.
