Florida's certificate of need repeal attempt is on its way to Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis after both legislative bodies passed it April 29, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
What you should know:
1. The bill will partially eliminate the state's CON laws, allowing new hospitals to open in Florida without CON approval by 2021.
2. The Senate voted 23-17 and the House voted 83-34 to pass the CON repeal.
3. Florida nursing homes, hospices and intermediate care facilities would still require CONs.
4. The bill will also established a regulatory framework for telehealth services.
