Farzad Mostashari, MD, assured healthcare providers at the AcademyHealth National Health Policy Conference that the return on investment of electronic health records will eventually be worth the upfront cost and inconvenience, according to EHR Intelligence.
Dr. Mostashari, the national coordinator for health information technology, insisted the EHRs will have benefits for patients, revolutionize medical research and improve overall coordination of care. He encouraged physicians to see EHRs has a "share care plan" instead of a drain on resources, according to the report.
He reminded providers to be patient and view the implementation process and cost as a means to an end of better patient care.
