The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services awarded the Virginia Cardiac Services Quality Initiative and the American Psychological Association grants to help the organizations adopt and promote value-based care practices.
Here's what you should know.
1. The grants are part of CMS' transforming clinical practice initiative. CMS is awarding up to $5 million to awardees to support primary and specialist care transformation work that will help speed up the adoption process of alternative payment models.
2. The Virginia Cardiac Services Quality Initiative was awarded $670,673 and the American Psychological Association was awarded $723,600.
3. To be eligible for a grant, organizations have to meet certain criteria including:
- Providing quality improvement support to 5,000 or more clinicians
- Providing support to a learning network that is multi-regional or national in scope
- Collaborate in generating evidence-based guidelines for clinical practice
- Effectively measure the use of clinical registries and electronic health records
- Commit to improve safety, personal and family engagement.
