The American Health Information Management Association's members elected Angela Kennedy, EdD, MBA, RHIA, to serve as the organization's president and chair of the board of directors for 2014.
Dr. Kennedy's one year term began Jan. 1, but she has been serving in the role since June 29, 2013, when former President Kathleen Frawley died.
Dr. Kennedy has been tasked with providing strategic direction to the information management association and its 71,000 members. Previously, she served two terms as the president of the Louisiana Health Information Management Association and as the chair of the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education.
AHIMA members also elected Cassi Birnbaum, MS, RHIA, as president and chair-elect and Jennifer McManis, RHIT, as speaker of the house. Zinethia Clemmons, MBS, MHA, Virginia Evans, MBA, RHIA, and Colleen Goethals, MS, RHIA, were elected as directors.
